General Note

The printer and publisher Johan Henrich Werner was foreman in the Wankijf printing house from 1698 until 1705, when he became the owner of the business and changed the firm to his own name. He acquired the privilege to print the official publications in December 1705, and this was added to his imprint in some form as of then, but he always used his own name as well. He purchased and joined with his Stockholm business the printing shops of Keyser III in 1707, of Olof Enaeus in 1713 and a part of Burchardi's in 1713. He became printer to the academy in Uppsala in 1701 and ran that business mainly with the help of foremen until 1733, when the Uppsala printing shop was sold to his foreman Johan Höjer. He died in 1735, and his widow continued the business in Stockholm.
