General Note

Georg Gottlieb Burchardi was a publisher and bookseller and also started a printing house in 1693. He purchased new type material of good quality and ran the business with the foreman Johan Jacob Genath. From 1697 his imprint sometimes carries a reference to a royal privilege, which may refer to a 20 years privilege on publishing the book of hymns. His printing business continued until 1708, when one part of it was sold to J.H. Werner and another part to J.G. Matthiae.
