General Note

Together with other chapmen in the burgh and shire, he applied to the Town Council of Stirling on 18 October 1726 for power to elect a Lord Chapman. He had a son, James Jaffrey junior, who married Anne, daughter of Ebenezer Erskine, born 1718. There were no children of this marriage. Will dated 31 December 1756. Apprentices: Robert Banks, son of Robert Banks apprenticed to James Jaffrey bookbinder Stirling 27 January 1742; Alexander Campbell son of Daniel Campbell apprenticed to James Jaffrey stationer Stirling 7 March 1750; James Jaffrey apprenticed to James Jaffrey bookbinder Stirling 1756.
