noteThe book was probably acquired while Koraes was living in Paris, where he settled in 1788, after his studies and until his death in 1833. In his will, he bequeathed his personal library to the Library of Chios, which bears his name.

bindingNoteBound in reused paper, painted brown on the outside, with manuscript notes in French on the inside, indicating previous use as a sort of catalogue. Manuscript label on front cover, with title in brown ink in Koraes's own hand which reads "Cornelii Celsi de Medicina Libri octo. 1493." (the word "Celsi" has been misspelled, crossed out and rewritten).

NoteKoraes died in 1833 and in his will bequethed his books to the Library of Chios. The books were gradually sent from Paris to Chios and most of them arrived between 1840-1850. The book bears the library's stamp and a label with previous classification number (probably from the classification undertaken in 1871) on verso of front cover which reads "ΙΑΤΡΙΚΗ 153" (=Μedicine 153). A later accession mark in pencil reads "76.180808" (2008).
Method of acquisitionBequest
StampsRound library stamp in blue ink, with image of Koraes in the center and around it "ΒΙΒΛΙΟΘΗΚΗ ΑΔΑΜΑΝΤΙΟΥ ΚΟΡΑΗ ΕΝ ΧΙΩ" (positively identified but barely legible in the present book), found in leaves a2r, e1r, l1v, l4r.
