bindingNoteBound by an anonymous binder in the 15th/16th c., probably in Nuremberg in the so-called Koberger's style (see: Wagner 2023, pp. 157-158). Brown calf over wooden boards. Both covers tooled in blind; the left cover heavily damaged, probably by fire. Missing leather on the spine. Both covers tooled in blind. Left cover (more decorative than right): central compartment filled with merrythought tool and stamps with a pomegranate fruit motif, the outer frame filled with stamps with the Tree of Life motif and (the bottom one) with lozenge-shaped stamps with griffins inside. The title (almost illegible) tooled in blind at the top of the left cover. Right cover: frames made with fillets, outer frame filled with the Tree of Life blind stamps, the central compartment divided in four triangular parts, each with a lozenge-shaped stamp with griffin inside. Rests of clasps with floral motifs, all eight corner pieces preserved (very decorative), traces (nails) of the centre-piece on the left cover, another one preserved on the right cover, but loose (three nails missing). Three double risen bans and two endbands attached to the spine. One leather leaf marker on the fore-edge of fol. d1.
