The bookplate located on the title page depicts the portrait engraving of Samuel Pepys in oval surround, created by Robert White in 1690, after the Sir Godfrey Kneller portrait. The bookplate includes Pepys's motto as subscript. Also includes an example of the 'rear bookplate' created by [?] Sutton Nicholls (fl. 1680-1729), with stylised fouled anchors and rope design, and Pepys's motto, this being situated at the end of the volume, beneath the printer’s colophon of 2051(3).
