Decoration
Binding noteContemporary English blind-stamped calf, with peripheral cushions; two fore-edge clasps, with catch-plates on back cover (one strap and clasp lacking); one index tab at the start of book 2; two or three letters written across the tail-edges, near the spine ("[k-t]"?); top-edges may be stained black. Identifiable with the Caxton Binder from the triangular dragon stamp (Oldham, plate XXI, no. 236); the fleur-de-lis stamp on this binding, however, does not match that found on other bindings from this shop mentioned and illustrated by Oldham and Hobson. Gilt-stamped title on spine is much later.
