NotePurchased by Quaritch at the Knight-Bruce sale, August 1867. In consultation with the Earl of Crawford, he had the volume rebound by Bedford, adding 17 separately-printed engravings, which were removed from another copy of the edition, already in the earl's possession. The other copy was disposed of by the Königliche Hof- und Staatsbibliothek, Munich, in a sale held by Fidelis Butsch in Augsburg, May 1858 (lot 691, purchased by Crawford through Giovanni Gancia for 235 florins). Documentation in the Crawford Library Papers, National Library of Scotland, cited in Eze (see copy information above).
