Leaves [b5-b6] bound after leaf [c4]; a copy of their text supplied in contemporary manuscript on a bifolium (4to) inserted after [b4] but incorrectly bound with first leaf as second. Text on leaves [k1] verso and [k6] recto, left blank in the printing, also supplied in manuscript together with additional text from a later expanded version which required the insertion of an extra leaf (4to) between [k5] verso and [k6] recto.

Binding noteOriginal blind-tooled brown leather over bevelled wooden boards, sewn over three double bands of alum-tawed skin, with brass bosses at the centre and corners of boards, one surviving of two original trilobe brass catches at fore-edge of lower board, metal nails securing stubs of fastening textile (silk?) straps at fore-edge of upper board, with title 'F de v' inscribed in ink on head and tail edges and 'Fior d[e] <vi>rtu<de> on spine, Italy, Venice ?, late 1470s or 1480s.
Manuscript waste: Fragment of a parchment manuscript of Johannes de Sacro Bosco, Tractatus de sphaera, Italy, second half of the 14th century, used as upper pastedown; lower pastedown from same manuscript, ruled but blank.
Fragment of a leaf from an hymnary, Italy, 15th century, used as upper and lower free endleaves.
Decoration NoteInitials in alternating blue and red, paragraph marks in red, highlighting of printed capitals letters in yellow, all added by hand, including manuscript portions, Italy, late 15th century.
