Explorateur
Sir James Lamont, 1st Baronet of Knockdaw ; Scottischer Forscher, Mitglied der Geological Society of London und der Royal Geographical Society. Bekannt durch seine Reisen in die Arktik. Ebendso bereiste er Afrika und West Indien. Lamont Island in der Franz-Josef-Land-Inselgruppe ist nach ihm benannt. Er diente als liberales Mitglied dem Parliament for Buteshire (1865–68). 1910 wurde er durch Heirat zum Baronet of Knockdaw in der Pfarrei Inverchaolain in der Grafschaft Argyll ernannt.
