Anna wurde als kleines Mädchen von einer Verwandten, der Pröpstin Ursula von Kittlitz, in das Stift Gernrode geholt. Als Sechzehnjährige wurde sie Dechantin, im Jahr 1528 dann Pröpstin. Sie wurde mit sechzig zur Äbtissin gewählt (1548-1558)
