After a preliminary education at Dundee, he studied at St. Andrews and later at Paris, where he became a professor and Principal of the College of Montaigne, 1492-8. In 1498 he was appointed Principal of King's College. He conscientiously tried to encourage learning in the North-East of Scotland. He wrote a history of Scotland which shows him credulous of fable, but his style is elegant. He was Canon of Aberdeen and Rector of Tyrie. On his death in 1536 he was buried in King's College Chapel. 340 01$8und$a1465?-1536$xa1465a1536 350 1$0acti$8ger$aHistoriker$uhttp://d-nb.info/gnd/4025098-2$2gnd 350 1$0lang$8eng$aLatin 350 1$0irsp$8fre$aAuteur 356 1$0nati$8eng$aBritish 400 01$aBoethius$bHector$0varn 400 01$aBoethius Deidodanus$bHector$0varn 400 01$aBoetius$bHector$0varn 400 01$aBoyce$bHector$0varn 400 01$aHector$rBoece$0varn 400 01$aHector$rBoethius$0varn 400 01$aBeotius$bHector$0varn 400 01$aBoecius$bH.$0varn 400 01$aBoetii$bHectoris$0varn 400 01$aBoetius$bH.$0varn 801 $aDE$bGyGoGBV$c20020621$n076964035 801 $aDE$bGyGoGBV$c20020830$n135557860 801 $aGB$bCERL$c20070913$n722 801 $aGB$bESTC$nsb052087 801 $aFR$bBNF$c20040427$nFRBNF125571787$gAFNOR Z 44-061 801 $aGB$bStAbUL$c20140520$n117 801 $aGB$bGlU-inc$c20210210$nBoece, Hector 801 $aDE$bGND$c20220721$n10421161X 830 $aAuthority record from 'Early Book Owners in Britain' database.
