Variante(s) de prénom : Geraert ; Ghera(er)t ; Gerhard. - Imprimeur-libraire. - Natif de Gouda. Fils d'un Gheraert Leeu, peut-être bourgeois de Bruges, et frère de Claes Leeu, imprimeur à Anvers. Exerce d'abord à Gouda, dont il est le prototypographe, hésite en 1484 à s'installer à Bruges puis se fixe la même année à Anvers, où il est reçu maître dans la guilde de Saint-Luc en 1485. En relation avec Érasme, qu'il rencontre près de Gouda et qui l'évoque en termes élogieux. Blessé mortellement au cours d'une altercation, vers la Noël 1492, par un ouvrier graveur de caractères travaillant pour lui, Henric Van Symmen, qui voulait s'établir à son propre compte. Décédé peu après à Anvers
