M.A. Edinburgh Univ.,M.A. King's Coll. 1854, Doctor of Divinity 1855. Principal of King's Coll. 1855. Regent King's Coll. 1854-5. Professor of Greek King's Coll. First principal of the United University. d.1876. From Provenance Catalogue: Campbell, after being ordained in the Church of Scotland, went to Kingston, Canada, where he became Professor of Classics. In 1845 he returned to a charge in Perth. Appointed Professor of Greek in King's College in 1854, he became Principal in 1855 and of the [United] University in 1860. He died 1876.
