Also known as Bradel l’Âiné, as he carried on the work of his uncle Derome Le Jeune, well known Parisin binder in Paris (d. 1760). Bradel moved to Germany where he started a style of a temporary binding that later became very popular in Germany (H.P. Horne, The binding of books, London 1894; J.
