      text: "Nato a Tulle, figlio di Jean Charles e Catherine Teyssier. Indirizzato dal padre al diritto, preferì dedicarsi allo studio dei classici e della filologia, della patristica e della storia locale, ambiti in cui accumulò una vastissima erudizione e pubblicò diverse opere. Sfruttando la sua posizione e le altolocate conoscenze, fu instancabile collezionista di manoscritti, libri e documenti soprattutto se inerenti la storia medievale, riuscendo a costituire una biblioteca personale considerevole, anche attingendo a quelle personali di J.B.Hautin, di Julien e Jean Brodeau, di Guillaume Ranchin: morto quest'ultimo anzi tempo, Baluze si rivolse prima ai benedettini di Saint-Maur e successivamente al re, in entrambi i casi senza successo: quando a sua volta morì nel 1718, fu Genevieve Madeleine Muguet figlia dello stampatore e moglie dello spedizioniere Lemaire a occuparsi dei volumi, facendone stampare un catalogo e mettendoli all'asta: mentre gli stampati furono venduti al dettaglio, per i manoscritti ottenne la cifra di 30.000 lire dalla biblioteca reale, consegnandoli all'abate Bignon nel 1719."

Il devint le bibliothécaire de Colbert en 1667. Il possédait lui-même unecollectionet ordonna qu'à sa mort, elle soit vendue pièce à pièce afin que des particuliers puissent y accéder. A aussi écrit en français."
