En apprentissage de nov. 1691 à nov. 1695 chez le libraire parisien Théodore Girard (163.?-1697), dont il reprend la boutique le 7 juin 1698 après avoir travaillé chez sa veuve. Reçu libraire le 6 juin 1698. Épouse Catherine Le Gras, fille du libraire Nicolas Le Gras (1633?-1719), avant 1701. Dit âgé de 26 ans et demi lors de l'enquête de nov.-déc. 1701. Reçu imprimeur le 2 juillet 1723, il se démet de son imprimerie dès le 22 mars 1728. Revend une partie de son fonds de librairie à Jacques III Rollin avant 1745. Se retire du commerce avant 1749 pour vivre de ses rentes, ce que confirme l'\"Historique des libraires...\" de l'inspecteur Joseph d'Hémery : à la date du 1er janv. 1749, \"il est retiré et vit de son bien\". Il décède à Paris, rue du Four-Saint-Honoré, le 11 mars 1755 ; on le dit alors âgé de 80 ans. Nicolas Gosselin et Catherine Le Gras ont eu au moins une fille, prénommée Catherine"
