Imprimeur-libraire. L'officine familiale a été fondée en 1693 à Nagyszeben (aujourd'hui Sibiu, Roumanie) par Johann (Joannes, János) I Barth qui dirige l'imprimerie jusqu'en 1744. Lui succèdent: Johann III Barth (Johann II Barth dirige l'imprimerie de la ville de 1716 à 1746) de 1745 à 1775, Johann IV Barth de 1776 à 1779, Peter (Péter) Barth de 1779 à 1801, enfin Johann V Barth de 1801 à 1832. L'imprimerie familiale a publié notamment le "Supplex Libellus Valachorum" en 1791, premier document politique de la communauté roumaine en Transylvanie. L'officine possède une succursale à Kolozsvár (aujourd'hui Cluj-Napoca, Roumanie) de 1796 à 1803. Johann V Barth décède en 1832, date à laquelle Georg (György) Closius rachète l'imprimerie.
