Esclave. - Célèbre pour avoir fui l'État esclavagiste de Virginie, volontairement enfermé dans un colis postal envoyé vers l'État abolitionniste voisin de Pennsylvanie, ce qui lui valut en 1849 le diminutif de "Box", dont il fit ensuite usage dans son état-civil
war ein abolitionistischer Dozent und Entertainer. Er wurde als Sklave in Louisa County (Virginia) geboren und floh mit 33 nach Philadelphia im Inneren einer Holzkiste, die von der Post transportiert wurde.
