Publie en 1646 "The Humble Remonstrance and petition of the Lord Mayor, aldermen and commons of the City of London". Prend les armes pour le Parlement au début de la guerre civile et devient colonel. Représente le "Ward of Cornhill" au "Common Council". Impliqué dans une guerre de pamphlets entre Presbytériens et Indépendants. Se retire vers 1650'
