      text: "Variante(s) de prénom : Nicolaas. - Imprimeur-libraire, antiquaire et médailliste. - Natif de Sedan (où il est baptisé le 1er juin 1661), fils de négociants protestants. Ministre protestant, d'après plusieurs auteurs, il se réfugie en tout cas à Amsterdam avant la Révocation de l'édit de Nantes. Reçu bourgeois d'Amsterdam en qualité de marchand \"droguiste\" le 12 juin 1685. Collectionneur et marchand d'antiquités, de curiosités et surtout de médailles, il annonce dès sept. 1696 qu'il dispose aussi de tout le matériel pour frapper de nouvelles médailles, avec privilège pour ce faire. Publie en 1692 une \"Histoire de Guillaume III... par médailles... et autres monumens publics\" dont il vend lui-même une partie de l'édition. S'établit officiellement libraire en 1700 (reçu dans la guilde des libraires d'Amsterdam le 21 mars 1700). Auteur de nombreux opuscules, notamment descriptions d'antiquités et pièces rares, ainsi que relations et histoires métalliques. Publie plusieurs catalogues de son établissement. En exercice à Amsterdam jusqu'en 1703 au moins, il est attesté en avril 1704 à Utrecht où il s'établit et obtient privilège pour la frappe de médailles. Encore en activité à Utrecht en 1715, il est de retour en juillet 1717 à Amsterdam, où il exerce jusqu'à sa mort l'imprimerie, la librairie, le commerce des médailles et antiques et la frappe des médailles (annonces après décès des 8 nov. et 26 déc. 1720 dans la \"Gazette d'Amsterdam\" et ventes après décès des 5 fév. (livres et effets) et 2 avril 1721 (objets, curiosités, médailles)). Sépulture à Amsterdam le 10 oct. 1720"
