Spécialisé dans la gravure et l'édition de cartes et de plans, d'abord de jardins, puis des villes d'Angleterre et d'Irlande, et enfin des comtés anglais. Fait travailler de nombreux graveurs et dessinateurs anglais et étrangers (notamment français). Ses locaux sont détruits par un incendie pendant la nuit du 7 nov. 1750, mais il parvient à remettre son affaire sur pied
