Écrivain politique. Parfois identifié, après sa mort, au pamphlétaire politique "Junius", auteur d'une série de lettres parues entre 1769 et 1772 pour soutenir l'opposition au roi George III. Hugh Macaulay, a pris le nom de son grand-père maternel Boyd en 1767.
