      text: "Né vers 1510 ou 1500. - Ecclésiastique. - Camérier secret de Clément VII de 1529 à la mort de celui-ci en 1533. Il revint ensuite à Padoue, puis s'installa de nouveau à Rome dans l'entourage du cardinal Bembo en 1539. Il y fut en contact avec des disciples italiens de Juan Valdès. En 1541-42, il demeura auprès du cardinal Reginald Pole, et entra en relation avec d'autres penseurs hétérodoxes. Nommé évêque de Bergame en 1544, il fut accusé d'hérésie (on le soupçonnait d'être proche des idées de Luther) et arrêté en 1551. Absous une première fois par le Saint-Office en 1554, réintégré dans son diocèse, il fut à nouveau accusé en 1557, alors qu'il était déjà malade. Il fut déchu de l'épiscopat et condamné par contumace en avril 1558"
