Hésychaste laïc, né entre 1319 et 1323, et mort après 1391, probablement vers 1397-1398. - Souvent présenté comme métropolite de Thessalonique (par confusion avec son oncle Nil), ce qu'il ne fut jamais. - Le patronyme de son père était Chamaétos, et Cabasilas celui de sa mère
