Commission for forfeited estates 1752, board of trustees for fisheries and manufactures 1754, director of the British Linen Company 1754-6. Founder member of the Select Society 1754. Vice-president of the Philosophical Society 1755. Commissioner of justiciary 1763. Interested in agricultural improvement. Wrote many legal works. Died Edinburgh 1782."@en,
