Front page of the first printed version(Paris 1540, Theodor A. Svallemberg) of the Procheiron or Hexabiblos of Constantine Harmenopoulos(1320 - 1380/1385). Hexabiblos was a Byzantine legal treatise of the 14th century, that continued to be widely used in the Balkan lands throughout the later Ottoman Empire's presence. At 1828, it was adopted by the newly founded Greek state as the state's civic code, where it remained so until 1946.
