Libraire, graveur et éditeur de cartes. Fils d'un coutelier londonien. Géographe du prince de Galles puis du roi George III (1760). Sa carrière de cartographe commence vers 1744. Auteur de : "The Conduct of the French, with regard to Nova Scotia", Londres, 1754. Fait paraître de nombreux ouvrages géographiques entre 1754 et 1768. En faillite en nov. 1766. Son successeur William II Faden publie encore sous la raison "Faden and Jefferys" jusque vers 1774.
