Saadi-ye Shirazi better known by his pen-name as Saadi was one of the major Persian poets of the medieval period. He is not only famous in Persian-speaking countries, but he has also been quoted in western sources. He is recognized for the quality of his writings, and for the depth of his social and moral thoughts.
Ein herausragender pers. Dichter und Mystiker (1210-1291/92); seine Bekanntheit verbreitete sich im 18. Jahrhundert vor allem durch die Modeerscheinung oriental. Sujets bei europäisch. Schriftstellern und Lyrikern wie Denis Diderot, Voltaire, Ernest Renan, Johann Gottfried Herder sowie Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (wie z.B. in seinem Gedicht "Im Atemholen sind zweierlei Gnaden" im "West-östlichen Divan")
