text: "Architetto e trattatista (1548/52?-1616), curò nel 1584 insieme al padre Giandomenico, la prima edizione completa dei libri di Sebastiano Serlio mentre aveva pubblicato nel 1582 i Discorsi sopra l'antichità di Roma. Lavorò alle Procuratie Nuove in Piazza San Marco a Venezia; al Teatro Olimpico a Vicenza; realizzò fra l'altro Villa Pisani a Lonigo, il Santuario delle Sette Chiese e villa Duodo a Monselice, il complesso di San Gaetano a Padova, il teatro di Sabbioneta, il duomo di Salisburgo. Possedeva una ricca biblioteca, dispersa dopo la bancarotta che lo costrinse a vendere i suoi libri, per poter scrivere e pubblicare il trattato Dell'idea dell'architettura universale (1615) in 6 volumi."
