van 1833-1844, echtgenoot van: Wilhelmina Hendrika Arntzenius (-1844)
vanaf 1849, echtgenoot van: Alida Maria Spandaw (1816-1876)
zette zich in voor bevordering van de landbouw, de emancipatie van het platteland, de aanleg van wegen te water en te land én de verpreiding van kennis en kunde (publiceerde tevens een oeuvre als dichter en volkskundige)
