      text: "Libraire ; libraire du prince de Galles (1802) ; journaliste et écrivain politique. - Natif de Farnham (Grande-Bretagne). Obligé de fuir l'Angleterre en oct. 1792, il vient s'établir à Philadelphie ; professeur d'anglais chez les émigrés français, auteur de méthodes de langues, il y ouvre une librairie en juillet 1796 et se fait journaliste et pamphlétaire. À la suite d'un procès, il émigre à New York et y transfère son officine fin 1797. Publie sous les pseudonymes de \"Peter Porcupine\" et de \"Dick Retort\". Autorisé à rentrer en Angleterre en juin 1800, il exerce la librairie à Londres jusqu'en 1803. Exilé à nouveau aux États-Unis (1817-1819). Décédé en juin 1835 à Normandy (Grande-Bretagne)"
