b. before 1450, adm. Mercers' Co. by apprenticeship 1474, will dated 16 Jan. 1514, his widow Eleanor married Wm. Myddelton. Rich, enlightened mercer, patron of de Worde, connections in Flanders, humanist friends, owned other Lydgate mss., left property in Southwark to found Camb. fellowship but did not accrue to college until death of his widow in 1530, then it seems to have been used for general purposes (VCH Cambs. 3,421)
