French veterinary scientist, member of the Institut de France.
Vétérinaire. Élève puis professeur à l'École d'Alfort. Pose les fondements de la jurisprudence vétérinaire. Un des pères fondateurs de la Société d'encouragement pour l'industrie nationale. Membre de l'Institut (section économie rurale et art vétérinaire). Auteur de nombreuses brochures dont l'une, "Instruction sur les soins à donner aux chevaux, 1794", est diffusée par ordre du Comité de salut public à plus de 60 000 exemplaires. Épouse en 1792 M.-R. Vallat-La-Chapelle, imprimeur-libraire spécialisé en agriculture. Possède une bibliothèque de quelques 40 000 vol. (Cf. Bibliothèque Huzard / P. Leblanc, 1842, 3 vol.). Ne pas confondre avec : "Huzard, Jean-Baptiste (1793-1878)", son fils, également vétérinaire.
