      text: "Autre(s) graphie(s) : Macklott. - Imprimeur-libraire ; libraire et imprimeur de la Cour [du margraviat de Bade-Durlach] (1760). - Natif de Francfort-sur-le-Main. D'abord \"facteur\" (gérant) de la librairie de Max Wirsum (m. 1750) à Karlsruhe, il obtient le 13 janv. 1757 un privilège du margrave de Bade-Durlach Charles Frédéric pour s'y établir libraire et imprimeur à son compte, en reprenant l'officine Wirsum. Dès déc. 1756, lance le \"Carlsruher Wochenblatt\", premier périodique de Bade, puis publie le bihebdomadaire \"Carlsruher Zeitung\" à partir de nov. 1757 et ouvre un cabinet de lecture. Publie également de nombreux ouvrages en langue française. Rachète l'imprimerie Lotter en 1776. Décédé à Karlsruhe en juin 1794. Sa veuve Christina Heinrika Hütt (1728-1816) et ses fils Karl Friedrich (1760-1812) et Philipp (1771-1848) Macklot lui succèdent"
