Dichter; befasste sich intensiv mit dem Judentum, sein wichtigstes Projekt war die Übersetzung der Mishnah; gründete zusammen mit Galenus Abrahamsz ein College in Amsterdam, welches eine liberale, tolerante und kirchenkritische Form des Christentums vertrat; seine Anhänger wurden Boreelisten genannt.
