      text: "Apothicaire à Lyon et chimiste distingué. Reçu membre de l'Académie des Sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Lyon, il écrivit de nombreux mémoires sur la chimie. Son père, Jean-Marie Gavinet, avait constitué une bibliothèque qu'Antoine-Nicolas continua d'enrichir. Cette bibliothèque renfermait 5000 à 6000 volumes à la Révolution. Il en donna, de son vivant, une partie importante à son fils. C'était une bibliothèque de botanique, chimie et sciences naturelles."
