Geistlicher, wohl in Magdeburg geboren. 1479 Einrichtung einer Druckerei in Magdeburg, ist Magdeburgs Erstdrucker; als Lehrmeister diente ihm Lucas Brandis. Wohl noch 1483 Übersiedlung nach Lübeck, 1486 - 1487 in Stockholm, dann wieder in Lübeck. Wurde möglicherweise nach 1492 zur Errichtung einer Druckerei nach Moskau gerufen und dort als Zauberer ertränkt. - Unsicher ist die Identifizierung des Druckers der Melusine mit Ghotan
