text: "celebre medico ed anatomista; illustre docente dello Studio di Padova dove dal 1715 fino alla morte occupò la Cattedra di Anatomia . Nato a Forlì il 25 febbraio 1682, morto a Padova il 5 dicembre 1771. La sua biblioteca personale composta da circa 5000 unità volumi ed opuscoli fu acquistata dagli eredi nel 1773 con terminazione dei Riformatori allo Studio di Padova del 19 marzo e fu subito destinata alla Biblioteca Universitaria della stessa città, dove è tuttora conservata. Il catalogo dei libri scritto dallo stesso Morgagni fu rinvenuto dal professor Giuseppe Ongaro all'Archivio di Stato di Venezia (Riformatori allo Studio di Padova, filza 514) ed è lo strumento che ha permesso il paziente lavoro di identificazione e riscontro dei volumi esistenti nei depositi della Biblioteca. L'opera dei bibliotecari si è concretizzata nella pubblicazione a stampa del manoscritto nel 1983."
