Taylor Combe (1774-1826) was keeper of Coins and Antiquities at the British Museum, long before the two departments were split into separate entities. Taylor based the portrait of Combe on one modelled by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benedetto_Pistrucci" class="extiw" title="w:Benedetto Pistrucci">Benedetto Pistrucci</a>, and the medal is signed by both artists.'
