Doctor and philosopher. Born Aberdeen 1724. Youngest son of James Gregorie, prof. Of medicine at King's Coll. Educated Aberdeen Grammar School, King's Coll., medicine at Univ. Of Edinburgh 1742. Leiden 1745, while there recieved M.D. King's Coll., 1746. Returned to Aberdeen and regent King's Coll., 1746-49, also started practising medicine. Moved to London 1754. Elected mediciner at King's Coll., 1755-66. Fellow of the Royal Society, 1755. Moved to Edinburgh 1764. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians 1765. Professor of the practice of physic, Univ. of Edinburgh, 1766. First physician in Scotland to George III 1766. Died Edinburgh 1773.
