In “Jones Directory” for 1787 he appears as Richard Smillie, collector of the statue money and auctioneer, Trongate, facing Spreul's Land. In “Jones” 1789 he appears only as collector of the statute money, Trongate, above No.64. The Trongate address is doubtless that of his house.
