Member of the Edinburgh Bookseller's Society 3 October 1796. Burgess and Guild Brother of Edinburgh in right of wife Jessie daughter of Charles Walker vintner 17 April 1804.'Foot of Queen Street' “Denovan's 1804”. He was joint residuary legatee of John Fairbairn, with Archibald Constable, 1810. He was Publisher of “Reid's Leith and London Smack direcctory”. He had a son William Charles Reid 1833-46. C.P. Reid 1847. Apprentice: Alexander Cannon printer Burgess and Guild Brother as apprentice to William Reid, printer and bookseller Leith 11 February 1841 apprenticed the same day as from 1 March 1822.
