      text: "Son of James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd, was born near Edinburgh 26 March 1806, and apprenticed to James Muirhead, printer, 24 August 1818. After his apprenticeship he entered the 'book house' attached to “The Caledonian Mercury”. He went into business as printer and publisher in 1837. He published “Hogg's Weekly Instructor” from March 1845-December 1859. The name was changed to “The Instructor” and was later known as “The Titan”. In 1858, his sons James and John, became partners, and the firm gave up printing. The sons opened a branch office in London, whither the firm was transferred. The firm was dissolved in July 1867. James Hogg died in London 14 March 1880."
