John Glassford, third son of James Glassford merchant was born in1715. Burgess of Glasgow 22 September 1737 as third son to deceased James Glassford merchant. One of the principal tobacco merchants of Glasgow. A member of the firm of Spiers and Glassford, and a shipowner. He sold two books by Isaac Ambrose. He died 27 August 1783
