      text: 'Buchdrucker im Dienst der Reformation; kam um 1540 aus Wittenberg nach Magdeburg und druckte dort bis 1553, wurde 1553 vom Kurfürsten Johann Friedrich von Sachsen zum Druck der Lutherischen Gesamtausgabe nach Jena gerufen (Druckerei im Karmeliterkloster vor der Stadt), wo er bis zu seinem Tod tätig war. - Die Erben druckten noch bis 1558 weiter. Seine Witwe Margarethe heiratete 1559 seinen Gesellen Donat Richtzenhan, der die Druckerei 1564 von den Erben erwarb'
