Durch Heirat mit Anna Catharina Felginer 1739 - 1742 Mitinhaber der Firma Th. Chr. Felginers Witwe & Bohn; firmierte ab 1743 als Alleineigentümer J. C. Bohn. Heiratete 1755 in 2. Ehe die Kaufmannstochter Catharina Elisabeth Hertel. Seine Tochter Meta Maria (1743 - 1778) heiratete 1768 den Verleger Johann Joachim Christoph Bode; der Sohn Carl Ernst Bohn (1749 - 1827) wurde 1773 Nachfolger seines Vaters als Leiter des Verlages und der Buchhandlung. 1805 verkaufte er sein Geschäfts- und Wohnhaus in Hamburg und zog als Buchhändler nach Weißenfels'
