      text: "Tipografo, editore e libraio, originario di Menaggio, figlio di Giorgio e fratello di Francesco. Aveva librerie sia a Milano che a Pavia; a Milano ebbe varie botteghe in Piazza dei Mercanti, sia con il fratello Francesco (al segno di K) che da solo (al segno del Sole, acquistata da Elisabetta de Barchi, vedova del libraio Iacopo Corsico, e al segno dell'Ancora, passata poi a sua moglie Dorotea). Ebbe problemi giudiziari per vendita di pubblicazioni eretiche e traffico d'armi, e dovette soggiornare all'estero per qualche tempo, ma anche dopo il suo ritorno a Milano conservò rapporti d'affari con editori di Basilea. Non fece uso di marche tipografiche. Sposò Dorotea Scoto, sorella di Girolamo, ed ebbe sette figli: Massimiliano, Cinzio, Pompeo, Teodoro, Virginia, Polissena, Delia. M. nel 1547."
