Lodewijk De Winde most likely originated from Antwerp. He established a new printing business in Douai in 1564. His printer's device was "Opera et numine". He maintained close relationships with the University of Douai and served as its promoteur (a kind of policeman) for some time during the 1560s. After his death, his widow continued printing around 1576.
