Abbaye créée vers 965 par le moine Odilbert, prévôt de l'abbaye de Gorze. L'activité monastique prit fin en 1790. Des bâtiments sont encore visibles dans l'actuel lycée Fabert. - L'église Saint-Vincent, dédicacée en 972, devenue basilique en 1933, a conservé une vocation religieuse
